2 Soldiers martyred and 2 injured in gunfight with terrorists’ in J & K’s Kishtwar.  White Knight Corps of the Indian army engaged terrorists after an intelligence input.  In a joint operation with the J & K police a patrol party came under heavy firing from the terrorists at 3:30 p.m.

Just four days before the first phase of polling scheduled on the 18th September in eight Assembly constituencies across the Chenab Valley region—encompassing the Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts of the Jammu & Kashmir this encounter martyred two brave soldiers and wounded two.  On the same date 16 constituencies in the south Kashmir districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam, will be going for polls.

The joint operation of cordon-and-search initiated by the White Knight Corps and the Jammu & Kashmir Police on intelligence inputs came under heavy attack in the Naidgham area of the Chhatroo belt in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The White Knight Corps on its official handle at social media platform ‘X’ posted, “Based on the intelligence inputs, a joint operation with J&K Police was launched in area Chatroo at #Kishtwar,” the corps said.  A contact was established and scout leading the patrol exchanged heavy volume of fire with the terrorists at 15:30 Hrs.  In the ensuing firefight four army personnel have been injured.  The operation is in progress”.

Later on it was declared that, the injured soldiers have been transported to the hospital, and reinforcements have been dispatched to the encounter site to bolster the security forces engaged in anti-terror operation.

Further, the White Knight Corps declared the names of martyrs who are identified as Naib Subedar Vipan Kumar and Sepoy Arvind Singh.  The condolence message from their unit reads, “White Knight Corps and all ranks salute the supreme sacrifice of the #Bravehearts; offer deepest condolences to the families”.

Through a latest post the White Knight Corps conveyed, “In a solemn wreath-laying ceremony, #GOC #White Knight Corps laid a wreath to pay homage to #Bravehearts Naib Subedar Vipan Kumar and Sepoy Arvind Singh who made the supreme sacrifice in the highest tradition of #IndianArmy”.

This encounter took place hours before a public address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as part of election campaign for his party.  A large number of people brought together from Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban attended his meeting.
