The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) unit carried out surprise searches at various residences and business establishments across Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday.  CIK is a specialised unit under the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Officials said that the raids were conducted in Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama and parts of north Kashmir as part of ongoing operation to monitor suspicious activities and verify inputs related to security concerns.  These raids and searches are being carried out simultaneously with the assistance of local police and other security agencies.  It is reported that during the search some suspicious documents and digital devices have been seized from some locations which will be examined as part of the routine investigation.

Authorities say today’s searches are triggered due to seizure of objectionable items from the central jail and sub-district jails of Jammu and Kashmir during yesterday’s raids, which were jointly carried out by the CIK and the local police.  Today’s searches are also being linked to a separate incident in which an AK-47 Rifle Recovered from Doctor’s Locker at Govt. Medical College Anantnag.  Also read: https://newswavepost.com/ak-47-rifle-recovered-from-doctors-locker-at-govt-medical-college-anantnag-jammu-kashmir/
