Khalid Tufail appointed Chief General Secretary of Samajwadi Party in Jammu and Kashmir, major setback to Democratic Progressive Azad Party. The Samajwadi Party is contesting the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls which, are to be held in three phases – September 18, 25 and October 1.
Samajwadi Party is supporting National Conference and Congress in the state assembly elections. National Conference is contesting on 51 seats out of the total 90 seats of the state and Congress is contesting in 31 constituencies.
Khalid Tufail, an experienced politician and strategist is appointed as the Samajwadi party’s Chief General Secretary of the Jammu & Kashmir. He is considered to be deeply connected with people across the state. He enjoys prominent control over Srinagar and other urban areas of the state. His concern for the fundamental rights of the people of Jammu & Kashmir is widely acknowledged across the state.
Khalid Tufail resigned from the post of General Secretary, Democratic Progressive Azad Party due to political differences and ideological conflicts. His decision to join Samajwadi party is strongly backed by his workers and supporters. Samajwadi’s strategy to engage people at grassroots level and increase its hold in the state will be easily achieved through Khalid Tufail.
