Maharashtra Govt. approves high-tech projects worth Rs. 1,17,220 crore in Marathwada, Vidarbha, Pune and Panvel, during a cabinet sub-committee meeting of the Industries department held on 6th September. Industry Minister Uday Samant made a brief presentation during the meeting.
It is estimated that these four large-scale projects spread across four divisions of Maharashtra state would generate an additional 29,000 jobs. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, highlighted that today’s approved projects will drive significant investment in semiconductor & electric vehicle manufacturing in the State, resulting in both direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, also stated that these projects will establish Maharashtra as a leading State in electric vehicle manufacturing.
The detailed list of approved investments shared by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is as follows:
Tower Semiconductor with Adani group at Taloja MIDC, Panvel will investment total Rupees 83,947 crore. This investment will be pumped in two phases. In the 1st phase – Rupees 58,763 crore and Rupees 25,184 crore will be invested in the 2nd phase. This unit will manufacture 40000 wafers per month in phase 1 and 80000 wafers per month after phase 2 of Analogue / Mixed Signals Semiconductor. This will create additional 5000 jobs.
Skoda Volkswagen through its Chakan unit at Pune, will invest Rupees 15,000 crore to manufacture EV cars and Hybrid cars. This unit along will create more than 1000 job opportunities.
Toyota Kirloskar is going to invest Rupees 21,273 crore at its Aurangabad unit situated at the Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The AURIC is spread over 10,000 acres of land, it is a part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project (DMIC). It will be manufacturing Hybrid vehicles, plugin hybrid vehicles, fuel cell EV, Battery Electric Vehicle. This unit alone may create employment opportunity for more than 8,800 jobs.
