MLA Pravin Darekar Elected President of Maharashtra Boxing Association and Pankaj Bharsakhale as Vice President

In a direct fight Pravin Darekar defeated Ranjit Savarkar for the post of President. In a clean sweep Pravin Darekar’s panel successfully won all positions of the Maharashtra Boxing Association.  The elections were contested for 29 posts and the panel led by Pravin Darekar and Jay Kawli managed to secure victory on all 29 posts.  Meanwhile, Adv. Manoj Pingle of Nashik has been elected unopposed for the post of Treasurer.  And Pankaj Bharsakhle is elected as the Vice President of the association.

The election of the new body under the leadership of BJP MLA Pravin Darekar and other renowned personalities of the state of Maharashtra including Pankaj Bharsakhle from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is seen as a beginning of a new chapter of boxing.  Stakeholders have expressed joy and view these results as a significant development for boxing in Maharashtra, symbolizing renewed energy and commitment to uplift the sport across the state.  The elected body have expressed their determination to bring about a “golden era of boxing” by promoting talent from grassroots levels and ensuring better infrastructure and training facilities for young boxers.

Speaking after the election, Pravin Darekar said, he will focus on a structured training programs and proper coordination between districts to produce world-class athletes from Maharashtra. “Our vision is to make Maharashtra a powerhouse of boxing talent. He also said that “with proper guidance, ample resources, and motivation, we will put our players on the national and international stage”.

Vice President Pankaj Bharsakhale also shared his vision for strengthening boxing in the Marathwada region. He said “Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and other parts of Marathwada have immense untapped potential. Our focus will be to identify and nurture that talent, provide opportunities to youth who can bring glory to the state”.  Pankaj Bharsakhle is already an influential figure in regional sports arena.  This year itself he’s also elected as the Vice President of the Maharashtra Athletics Association.

The Annual Election of Maharashtra Boxing Association was held today Sunday 9th November 2025 at Charity Commissioner Office, Mumbai. This entire election process took place under the supervision of the Charity Commissioner and Election Officer.  The new elected body is being welcomed by sports enthusiasts and boxing associations across Maharashtra, who believe this new leadership will breathe fresh life into the sport. Social media is already abuzz with congratulatory messages, celebrating what many call a much-needed revival of boxing in the state.

With Darekar’s leadership experience and Pankaj Bharsakhale’s regional influence, the Maharashtra Boxing Association now looks forward to a strong phase of development, aiming to inspire a new generation of champions.
