Srinagar, Sep 29: J&K National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has called upon the Indian government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pressurize Israel into halting the ongoing violence in Palestine and Lebanon.

Speaking to reporters during the final day of the election campaign in Baramulla, Abdullah expressed concern over the escalating tensions in the region following the reported killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah.

India should push Israel to stop the bloodshed

“What occurred yesterday signals that war is looming over the region. The Government of India, alongside other global leaders, should push Israel to stop the bloodshed, ensuring peace is restored,” Abdullah stated.

While refraining from commenting on political leaders like PDP President Mehbooba Mufti suspending their campaign after Nasrallah’s death, Abdullah emphasized that the NC has condemned Israeli aggression. “We have consistently demanded that the international community exert pressure on Israel to stop the killings in both Palestine and Lebanon,” he added.

Criticizes BJP for failing to curb resurgence of militancy in Jammu

Addressing the security situation in Jammu, the former chief minister criticized the ruling BJP, holding them accountable for the deteriorating law and order. “Militancy has resurfaced in Jammu, with frequent reports of attacks. The BJP’s complacency has allowed the situation to worsen during their tenure,” Abdullah remarked.

BJP failed to deliver any substantial progress

Responding to the BJP’s criticism of the NC and Congress during their campaign, Abdullah asserted that the ruling party has little to show in terms of development in Jammu and Kashmir. “Since they have failed to deliver any substantial progress, their only recourse is to blame the NC and Congress,” he concluded.
