Swati Maliwal, AAP’s own Rajya Sabha MP calls Atishi a ‘Dummy’ Chief Minister.  Within hours of declaration of name of the new Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi, AAP saw a strong rebellion within inside the party.  Swati Maliwal, who is Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) of the Aam Aadmi Party has strongly opposed Atishi’s selection as the new Chief Minister.  After years Delhi will get a woman Chief Minister.  Atishi will be the third women Chief Minister after Sushma Swaraj and Shiela Dixit.  At the age of 43, she will be the youngest ‘Women’ Chief Minister in the history of Delhi and second youngest Chief Minister, if she takes oath as CM of Delhi.  The first CM of Delhi, as well as the youngest CM was Brahm Prakash Yadav, aged 34 years.

Soon after Arvind Kejriwal was release from jail after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), he declared that he will resign from the post of Chief Minister.  Today, the AAP convened a meeting at the official residence of Arvind Kejriwal where the ‘Political Affairs Committee’ of the party unanimously finalized the name of Atishi as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. Her name was proposed by Arvind Kejriwal.

Swati Maliwal’s allegations against Atishi’s parents

Swati Maliwal, AAP’s own Rajya Sabha MP calls Atishi a ‘Dummy’ Chief Minister.  In a video message share on her ‘X’ account Swati Maliwal, said, “Today is a very sad day for Delhi.  The city is about to have a chief minister, atishi, whose own family for a long battle to save terrorist Afzal Guru from the death penalty.”  Further Swati Maliwal said, “This is an extremely unfortunate day for Delhi.  A woman like Atishi is going to become the CM of Delhi, whose own family fought a long battle to save terrorist Afzal Guru from death penalty.  Her parents wrote mercy petitions to the President several times, that he is innocent, that he should not be hanged, that he is a victim of political conspiracy.  How wrong is this?  Today, Atishi will become the CM but we all know that she will be only a “dummy CM”.  Still, this is a major issue because she will be the CM and this matter is directly linked to the security of the country as well as Delhi.  God save the people of Delhi from such as CM.”

Who is Swati Maliwal?

In 2023, Swati Maliwal, worked as Chief of the Delhi Commission for Women.  The commission organized an award function for those who displayed extraordinary courage and commitment towards empowering women.  After giving away award to almost 100 women Swati Maliwal while addressing the gathering revealed this shocking story of her life.

Swati Maliwal said, “There used to be a time she would hide under her bed out of fear.”  She further narrated, “I was sexually abused by my father when I was a child.  He used to beat me up; I used to hide under the bed.  As a child, I used to plan how I would teach a lesson to such men who abuse women and children, and how I can help women get what they deserve”.  Swati said her father would grab her by the hair and slam her against the wall, leading to severe injuries.  “This happened till I was in class 4, after which we left him”.

In another post shared on ‘X’ by Swati Maliwal, a video purportedly showing Tripta Wahi, mother of Atishi is shared.  In this video she is saying, “But, we are unhappy that Afzal has been made in our political understanding; a scapegoat.”  Alongwith this video another picture of a text message is shared which, is supposedly written by ‘Ali Javed’ and ‘Tripta Wahi’, Reader Delhi University.  But, this note do not bear any person’s signature which, reads, “Further, given the gravity of the brutal attack on Indian Parliament and that the country was taken very near to a nuclear conflict with Pakistan, the people of India have a right to know what exactly happened, who were the masterminds, how the attack was planned and the security breached.  We, therefore, appeal to you to not only set aside the punishment given to Mohd. Afzal but also to facilitate a Parliamentary Inquiry into the entire episode.”
